National Whittley Regatta 2020

This is the official invitation to all Whittley owners in Australia, to attend the National Whittley Regatta – 2020.


During the Regatta, we will put you on your Whittley, in the heart of Australia’s second biggest city, for a minimum of 4 days of fun and excitement. You can explore the many attractions of Melbourne and have access to cruise Melbourne’s two rivers and Port Phillip Bay. You will be staying at the Melbourne City Marina located in the Melbourne City Docklands Precinct.

Initial Information (1/9/2019)

The organising committee have finalised costs and arrangements. The cost for the 4 nights of the Regatta staying at the Melbourne City Marina will be as follows:

  •   1 person on a boat- $420
  •  2 persons on a boat - $570
  •  Additional cost per person - $175


Regatta attendees are welcome to arrive early and stay longer after the Regatta at the Melbourne City Marina at your own expense.

To attend the Regatta please deposit the attendance fee in the following bank account by 19 October 2019.

Then click the below Register Now button to access the Regatta Registration page. Please complete the information form then submit it for processing by the committee. 


A completed information form and payment will confirm your registration for the Regatta.

Additional Information (26/9/2019)

The MWCC Regatta Planning Committee have confirmed further arrangements and can now provide additional information to all prospective Regatta attendees on activities we have scheduled for Regatta 2020 showcasing Melbourne and it’s waterways.


We have not deviated too much from the past two regattas with a similar format. The Regatta will commence on Thursday 27/2/2020 with launching, parking, registration and the meet and greet dinner. We are planning three different cruises over the 4 days of the Regatta for you to cruise on your Whittley. There will be a farewell dinner on the Sunday night with band entertainment.


We have reserved the entire Melbourne City Marina. You will stay each night on your Whittley at the Melbourne City Marina moored to a floating pontoon jetty where power and water will be available. You will have access to the Melbourne City Marina rooms which include a full kitchen, dining and lounge overlooking the marina and the City of Melbourne in the Docklands Precinct. The Marina rooms also includes 4 toilets & showers and a laundry for guest use. Towels are provided free for all guests.


The planned cruises are:

  • Cruise 1 - The east side of Port Phillip Bay towards Black Rock.
  • Cruise 2 - Cruise up the Maribyrnong River past the Flemington Racecourse.
  • Cruise 3 - Cruise down the northwest side of the bay to Wyndham Harbour where you will visit the Werribee Open Plains Zoo.


You can plan to arrive earlier and stay on your boat in the Melbourne City Marina. You can stay additional nights in the Melbourne City Marina after the 1/3/2020 and enjoy the city on Melbourne. These additional marina nights will be at your cost (approximately $55 per night). We can reserve additional days at the marina once you let us know your requirements and scheduled arrival and departure dates.


The following activities are included in Regatta fee:

  • Two Regatta 2020 Tee Shirts per boat.
  • Marina berthing at the Melbourne City Marina for 4 nights from 27/2/2020 to 1/3/2020.
  • Secure vehicle & trailer carparking for the period you are in Melbourne between 25/2/2020 to 5/3/2020.
  • Transfer to and from the secure vehicle parking. 
  • Evening meals on each of the 4 nights of the Regatta.
  • Some lunches on the cruises.
  • Entry to the Werribee Open Plains Zoo. 
  • Transfer to and from Wyndham Harbour to Werribee Plains Zoo.
  • Evening entertainment provided will include:
    • An evening ride on the Melbourne Star Wheel
    • A cruise up the Yarra on a cruise boat 
    • Band entertainment at the farewell dinner.



Options for guided cruises on the weekend of 5 to 9/3/2020 at Lake Eildon or Gippsland Lakes. 

A cruise to Mallacoota will run from the 5 to 12/3/2020, where you can choose to join at anytime.  For those with no time constrains can choose to cruise Gippsland Lakes or Lake Eildon, then go to Mallacoota for an additional guided cruise. More information below.

Post Regatta Cruises

Gippsland Lakes

March 5 - 9, 2020

This cruise will launch from Paynesville. This is 305km east of Melbourne, (approx. 3 hour 46 min), in a salt water inlet system. You will have access to fuel on water, jetties, shops and restaurants at most evening camp locations.

Lake Eildon

March 5 - 9, 2020

This cruise will launch from Jerusalem Creek. This is 165km north of Melbourne (approx. 2 hour 57 min drive) on a fresh water lake. There is fuel, shops and restaurants at one location on the water.

Mallacoota

March 5 - 12, 2020

 This cruise will launch form Mallacoota main boat ramp. This is 604km east of Melbourne

(approx . 6 hours 4 min), in a salt water inlet system. There is no fuel on the water. You will moor against fixed jetties and/or nudge into the banks at each overnight location where you will have access to campfire pits, drop toilets and picnic tables.
